Weekly Tech Tips 29 August 2021

  Dear Friends, Welcome to this week’s installment of... Weekly Tech Tips This week is all about speed. See below how you can take a flat file MC quiz and pretty quickly turn it into a  Quizziz. Quizziz is also adding adaptive practice which is nice. Notice how you can copy over ALL the MC options then drag down one at a time to populate the choices instead of copying each one over. I was able to make this 13 question MC quiz from an IB database in about 10 minutes.  So now when I give this quiz tomorrow I don’t have to worry about making copies or if the printer works or forgetting about it because I already scheduled it for exactly 10 minutes after class starts. And my favorite part is that when the student are done I get a fantastic report like this: that tells me not only who missed what, but provides some basic item analysis. I also like the fact that the question pops up in the report so I don't have to note the question and go back to the quiz to find it. Solid...

  Dear Friends, Do you notice anything … different about me? Don’t I look spiffy this week in my new threads? I picked ‘em up courtesy of Smore . It’s a newsletter app I just learned about and I thought I’d try it on for size. Of course, gathering the  latest and highest quality tech tips on the web (almost) every week for my dear friends takes hours, Days, WEEKS of endless toil 😜 , but it only took a few minutes to drop my newsletter into this web-based template wizard to produce these stunning results for this week’s.... Weekly Tech Tips Are you digging Google Smart Canvas tools yet? I am, and here’s a new one for smart dates. Just type ‘@’ and then either click the date on the popup or keep typing a date and you get a  smart chip like this: It allows you to see a drop down calendar and open your calendar to book a meeting.   Dear Friends, As we all learned last week we will unfortunately be beginning the year online. With that in mind I have put together a few meta-resources for you. These are mostly collections of resources and articles for you to browse as needed. There are collections of favorite apps for online teaching and a list of articles about tips and best practices for virtual classrooms. I also have some icon.jpegs for you to spruce up your Schoology courses. Weekly Tech Tips First up, remember those two daily planners I shared last week with the MAJOR CAVEAT that it is possible, and indeed likely, that the odd / even pattern I used will get changed.   Dear Friends, I present to you the back-to-school edition of: Weekly Tech Tips As we head back to school I have a few things to share with you that I hope you will find useful. I have chosen some tools that can help you set up your calendars and classes. If you need any help utilizing these tools please do drop me a line.
